Professional Experience

Consultant

Academy of the Sacred Heart

I developed and taught curriculum on advanced manufacturing techniques including laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC machining, 3D CAD, and digital device creation. I instructed youth and adults on computer science concepts that emphasize variables, program control flow, conditional rendering, database creation and access, event handling, and algorithm development.

August 2017 - November 2017

Director of Education

IDIYA Labs

In addition to spearheading multiple makerspace and innovation lab builds at schools in the Greater New Orleans Area, I trained over 200 teachers in the use of creativity and advanced manufacturing within their curriculum. Through robotics instruction utilizing the Arduino microcontroller platform, I taught C++ with an emphasis in subroutines, hardware control, functions, data processing, loops, variable efficiency, I/O monitoring, and artificial intelligence.

January 2015 - July 2017

Teacher

The New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School

Creating sweeping changes within a senior level physics class, I taught robotics through the Arduino microcontroller to many students. In addition to teaching Algebra II and Biology, I also offered AP Computer Science for the first time at Sci High. Working through a summer break, I converted an unused classroom into a highly successful makerspace that quickly became the favorite class of many students. My technical proficiencies acquired during this time include object oriented programming, debugging, sorting algorithms and algorithm analysis, and ethical computer use.

July 2013 - June 2016

Teacher

El Dorado High School

Being hired by El Dorado School District was a privelege. With humble beginnings teaching 9th Grade Physical Science, I had the opportunity to attend a robotics training program through Louisiana Tech University called NASA Threads. Becoming introduced to the power of programming, I continued my education by becoming certified in AP Computer Science. I taught Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry making math fun and engaging for students. I learned how to demonstrate engineering and coding concepts with an emphasis on sensor data manipulation, electronic circuits, robotic control, tactile navigation, and pulse width modulation for servo control.
